כִּי נֶפֶשׁ הַבָּשָׂר בַּדָּם הִוא וַאֲנִי נְתַתִּיו לָכֶם עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ לְכַפֵּר עַל־נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם כִּֽי־הַדָּם הוּא בַּנֶּפֶשׁ יְכַפֵּֽר׃

quia anima carnis in sanguine est: et ego dedi illum vobis, ut super altare in eo expietis pro animabus vestris, et sanguis pro animæ piaculo sit.
Porque la vida de la carne en la sangre está: y yo os la he dado para expiar vuestras personas sobre el altar: por lo cual la misma sangre expiará la persona.
For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for your souls upon the altar; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.
