Passover opens the calendar of the LORD's appointed times. On the night of the 14th of Aviv, every house of Israel sacrificed a lamb without blemish and marked the doorposts with its blood; where the blood was, death passed over (Exodus 12:13). It was not the lamb itself that saved, but obedience to the word of YHVH and the blood placed where He said.

The Brit Hadashah declares it plainly: "Messiah, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed" (1 Corinthians 5:7). Yeshua died precisely in the season of Passover, examined as the lamb was examined (without fault — Luke 23:4), with no bone broken (Exodus 12:46; John 19:36). The feast was not abolished: it was filled with its complete meaning.

On the sighted-moon calendar, the exact day depends on the sighting of the crescent that opened the month of Aviv in Israel.
