Jubilees

The "Little Genesis" (Kufale in Ge'ez): a retelling of Genesis and half of Exodus dictated to Moses at Sinai, organized by 49-year jubilees. It is one of the best-attested non-biblical texts at Qumran — about 15 Hebrew copies across five caves, the oldest (4Q216) copied around 125-100 BC.

For this community it holds direct interest: Jubilees is the great book of the biblical calendar. It defends a 364-day solar year where the feasts always fall on the same weekday, and denounces the drifting of the appointed times — the same conversation as our feasts section. It also details Shavuot as the covenant-renewal feast, centuries before Acts 2.

Offered for study and reference.
